There were 64 of us altogether enjoying nice weather after predicted heavy downpours- rain was falling north, east and west of us, but not where we were! Had to use sunscreen for the Saturday afternoon outdoor activity for the first May camp I can ever remember! The kids were very attentive and well-behaved.... well, most of the time anyway!
The new Registration processes Deb had set up for us proved really helpful, and the new Grandpa and Grandma for the camp settled in well for their first time in this role. Grandpa joined in with lots of activities much to the surprise of the children!
A highlight was the visit of Shelley, with her incredible story of overcoming huge odds when she was a young secondary student, and teaching us all how to give and receive and make affirmations for ourselves.
Playing an evening game outside, Capture the Flag, in the semidarkness, proved to be another highlight for the camp, as well as the talent revealed in the Talent Quest on the Saturday night and the fire twirling presentation performed by Jade and Ayla outside afterwards. Parents spoke to us afterwards about changes they had seen in their children through coming to these camps.
We also explained about our fundraising walk planned for September and the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle planned for Fri 13th October 17 at North Bayswater.
